Jagdamba Motors, the official distributor of Proton vehicles for Nepal, is preparing to expand its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio in the Nepali market.
The company has decided to further accelerate its EV expansion plan after the Proton E.Mass Seven received enthusiastic and positive feedback from Nepali consumers in a short time since its launch, the company said.
‘Proton’s remarkable success in Malaysia shows a clear direction for the company. Proton’s electric vehicle (EV) sales in Malaysia increased by 329 percent between January and April 2026,’ the company said in a statement, ‘Over 11,617 EVs have been delivered to customers in just four months. To meet this high demand, Proton has announced an investment of 37 million Malaysian ringgit to expand its EV manufacturing plant in Tanjung Malim.’
With this, the company aims to more than double its annual production capacity to 42,000 units.
