The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCO) has organized a national capacity-building workshop on strengthening connectivity among landlocked developing countries by advancing sustainable transport corridors.

The one-day workshop, organized in Kathmandu in collaboration with the Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NIKCI) and the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, witnessed a wide participation of policymakers, transport economists, trade facilitation experts, professional logistics practitioners and regional stakeholders, according to a statement issued by UNESCO.

The workshop analyzed the structural challenges and opportunities faced by landlocked developing countries, with special focus on Nepal, the statement said.

The sessions covered important policy issues, from the development of sustainable transport corridors and regional connectivity to paperless trade, green port protocols, sustainable shipping practices and adoption of digital logistics systems, the statement said.
