For the first time in Gandaki Province, a Volvo Eicher luxury bus of Euro Six (BS Six) standard has come into operation. Six buses imported by Autoways Private Limited have been brought into operation by tourism company Swift Holidays Private Limited.
Autoways Pvt. Ltd. Chairman Narayan Poudel handed over the keys of the bus to Swift Holidays Managing Director Milan Nepal on Tuesday. Six buses are currently operating on the Pokhara-Kathmandu and Kathmandu-Pokhara routes at a fare of Rs 1,200 per passenger.
These buses, worth about Rs 13 million per bus, cannot be sold for 10 years as per the state policy and have been imported in a 40-seat standard. Autoways Chairman Narayan Poudel said that these Euro Six standard vehicles are an important step in Nepal's environment-friendly transport as they provide low emissions, advanced engine technology and high safety features.
Swift Holidays Managing Director Nepal informed that this bus was introduced on the occasion of the company's eighth anniversary. The company, which has been providing services in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan and Lumbini since 2018, is now planning to expand its day and night services. The company's fleet, which currently operates about 40 vehicles, includes Toyota Coaster, Toyota Hiace, Ashok Leyland and Tata Motors vehicles.
