The ‘Second Eye’ group has emerged as the winner of the Hult Prize competition organized at the Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus. Second Eye won the title of campus champion, beating 9 other teams in the competition.

Second Eye presented a technology-based solution targeting the problem of lack of access to healthcare services and shortage of radiologists in remote and underdeveloped areas. Their concept aims to make timely and accurate health tests possible in remote areas. 

The winner Second Eye received a total prize package of Rs 177,300, according to the announcement. This includes a cash prize of Rs 5,000, scholarships, materials and other facilities from various organizations and sponsors.

The ‘Re-Leaf Plastic’ group has become the first runner-up in the competition. This group presented an environmentally friendly concept of producing alternative plastic from the Michaha species of plants. They received a total prize of Rs 177,700.

Similarly, the ‘T:Key’ group has become the second runner-up. The organizer has stated that the team was awarded a prize of Rs 82,200 for its proposal to develop a portable system that can produce organic vegetables in small spaces at home, addressing the problem of decreasing cultivable land due to urbanization.

Nine groups, including Agro Kul, Akshara, Aqualife, Matritva, Medivo, Pragatisheel Power Optimizers, Re-leaf Plastics, Second Eye and T:Key, competed in the competition. The participating groups were evaluated on the basis of innovation, social impact, feasibility, scalability and presentation.

According to the organizers, the program has helped develop a culture of entrepreneurship and social innovation on campus. The winning team will now move on to the national and international stages.
