Nepal has been participating regularly in the International Economics Olympiad since 2019. Last year, Nepal won one silver and two bronze medals.

With the conclusion of the 7th Nepal Economics Olympiad, five students have been selected for the international competition. Kanav Baid, Samruddha Bhattarai, Nischal Ghimire, Arya Sharma and Aditya Rauniyar have been selected for the International Economics Olympiad from the national stage.

The national phase was organized from Falgun 6 to 8 at Kathmandu College of Management in Lalitpur. The selected students will represent Nepal in the international competition to be held in Shanghai, China from July 12 to 20. The organizers have stated that students from more than 60 countries of the world will participate in the competition.

This year's regional phase was organized at 14 centers across the country, according to the organizer Nepal Economic Olympiad. 1,041 students from 191 educational institutions participated in it. The month-long mentorship program provided training on personal finance, economic analysis, policy studies and case analysis from financial experts and economics trainers, the statement said.

At the program, Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Gunakar Bhatta urged the youth to contribute to nation building through knowledge, discipline and innovation. Representatives from various banks and financial sectors provided guidance on financial awareness, entrepreneurship and policy thinking.
