Litmus Industries Limited, a leader in Nepal's wire, cable and conductor manufacturing sector, has received a significant approval from the Power Grid Cooperation of India Limited (PGCIL) to supply high-capacity power transmission lines.

PGCIL is the central inter-state and cross-border electricity transmission network operator in India. With the approval, the company has become the only Nepali manufacturer to be selected for the Litmus cross-border electricity transmission project. As per the agreement, the company will manufacture and supply 2,799 km of 400 kV ACSR moose conductors. The conductors will be used in the Deeding-Dhalkebar-Bathnaha cross-border transmission line, which is associated with the 900 MW Arun-3 hydropower project.

The company has mentioned that 400 kV ACSR moose conductors are being manufactured for the first time in Nepal. Before the project approval, PGCIL had conducted a thorough evaluation of the company's production process, quality control system, testing mechanism and infrastructure. Only then was it deemed suitable for supply.

The Dhalkebar-Bathnaha transmission line is considered strategically important for the expansion of Nepal-India energy trade. The 900 MW Arun-3 project is expected to contribute to Nepal's energy security.

Earlier, Litmus has supplied 3,600 km of 400 kV ACSR Mousse conductors for the Hetauda-Dhalkebar-Inruwa Transmission Line Project for the Nepal Electricity Authority.

The current approval establishes the company as a trusted supplier internationally and indicates the strengthening of Nepali industry's participation in cross-border energy infrastructure development.
