The Nepal Tourism Board has announced its participation in 'MATKA 2026', the largest tourism fair in the Nordic region.
Nepal's participation in the fair, organized at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Center in Finland from 15 to 18 January 2026, has further strengthened Nepal's identity as an adventure, nature-friendly, cultural and sustainable tourism destination, said Sudhan Subedi, a senior officer of the board. Nepal has made its presence known through a special national pavilion at the fair. It is claimed that it has received significant attention from tourists, tourism entrepreneurs and tour operators. Nepal's diverse tourism potential has been presented there, targeting the growing interest in official and responsible travel experiences among Northern European travelers.
Leading Nepali tourism companies including Asian Adventure Treks and Expeditions Pvt. Ltd., Himalayan Windows Pvt. Ltd., Snowy Horizon Treks and Expeditions Pvt. Ltd., Goreto Treks and Expeditions Pvt. Ltd., Earthbound Expeditions Pvt. Ltd., Himalayan Guides Nepal Treks and Expeditions Pvt. Ltd., The Everest Holiday, Queen Bee Travel Assistance and Wonderland Travels Nepal participated in the Nepali Pavilion. These companies promoted Nepal's year-round tourism products including trekking, mountaineering, cultural tours and individually tailored travel packages at the fair.
Throughout the fair, the Board and participating Nepali companies discussed tourism to Nepal with tourism professionals and consumers from the Nordic region. During the course of the dialogue, issues such as air connectivity, travel weather, sustainability and the growing interest in experiential tourism were discussed, the Board said. The board has stated that Nepal can be re-established as a destination of choice for Finnish and Nordic travelers, especially for trekking, mountaineering, outdoor adventure activities and cultural experiences.
This successful participation in Matka 2026 is expected to further strengthen tourism cooperation with Finland and the entire Nordic region, open up new business partnership opportunities and further strengthen Nepal's image in the international market as a beautiful combination of adventure, culture and sustainability.
With the successful conclusion of Matka 2026, it is clear that the Nepal Tourism Board has continued its efforts to promote Nepal in major international markets and establish Nepal as a high-value, responsible and experiential travel destination.
