Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) and Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office have signed an agreement for five years of training for traffic police.

An agreement has been reached to provide regular training on practical skills and new vehicle technology to a total of 1,651 traffic police officers in the Kathmandu Valley.

The long-term strategic agreement will be for five years. The objective of the training is to continuously update the traffic police on modern traffic management, road safety, service-oriented behavior, risk reduction and technology-friendly practices to make daily service delivery with citizens more effective.

Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki and NAIMA board member Saurabh Jyoti signed the memorandum of understanding on the occasion of the inauguration program of the 'Road Accident Reduction Special Campaign' under Traffic Week 2082.

According to the agreement, NAIMA will utilize the expertise of its member companies and provide necessary training materials, technical resources, expert facilitation and coordination on technical topics related to new vehicle technology, road safety, use of new technology and vehicle/transportation systems. The Traffic Office will provide technical leadership, participant management, monitoring and quality assurance of the training program.

Under the implementation of the agreement, the training will be conducted in the first phase from Magh 4 to 17. Arrangements have been made for one hundred traffic police officers to participate in each session.

The training covers topics such as stress management/meditation, communication and conflict management, theoretical and hands-on observation sessions on new vehicle technology, practical exercises in traffic management, road accident reduction, and hand gesture skills required in traffic management.
