According to Sitaram Baniya, General Manager of Casino Mahjong Birgunj, the service has been launched targeting Indian tourists. Earlier, Casino Mahjong was also operating in Kathmandu and Nepalgunj.
'Casino Mahjong Chairman and Managing Director Binod Shrestha has been involved in the tourism business for the past 27 years. He has investments in businesses including casinos, hotels and resorts, and travel. The management claims that this Casino Mahjong has been bringing millions of foreign tourists to Nepal every year.
The casino has received the 'Best Casino in South Asia' award for the fifth time. In recognition of its contribution to the development of Nepal's tourism through the casino, India's Hospitality India has been continuously presenting Casino Mahjong with prestigious South Asia-level awards.
'Birgunj is the main commercial and industrial city of Nepal, and millions of Indian tourists enter Nepal through Birgunj every year through the Raxaul border. General Manager Baniya says that the casino was brought into operation targeting them. Even so, four casinos are in operation in Birgunj.
