Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Nikki) and Indian Institute of Technology Roodkee (IIT Roodkee) have signed an agreement to cooperate in the areas of solar energy, energy storage, green hydrogen, micro grid, capacity building training and mutually agreed upon cooperation between industry and academic institutions.
Director General of Nikkei KM Singh and Dean of IIT Rudki Prof. Vivek Kumar Malik has signed the agreement on behalf of his organization. According to the agreement, Asia's oldest engineering college, Indian Institute of Technology Rudki, through its 'Sustainable Energy Center', will allow Nikki's members to study, teach and participate in workshops.
Nikki will help organize a hackathon and exhibition at IIT Roodkee to attract prospective students towards innovative technologies . Such programs will be timely and as per mutual agreement . After signing the
agreement, Nikkei President Sunil KC said, 'In the coming days, more strong and reliable partners are needed for Nikkei.' Nikki is working to bridge the gap between the industry and the academic sector by collaborating with the best institutions in the country and in the world.'
He added, 'Nikki-IIT Rudki collaboration will provide great support to Nepal's game-changer energy sector . This will drive renewable energy development . With the increase in investment, there will be a need for skilled manpower, so this collaboration will also contribute to the economic growth of Nepal.'
Binational Chamber Nikkei is working with government and non-government bodies of Nepal and India to connect entrepreneurs and key stakeholders of both countries . It has been supporting the establishment and continuation of strategic partnerships and initiatives.
IIT Rudki has been using its academic and research and development resources in its faculties and laboratories for the development and distribution of results in accordance with project agreements with industry and other users. According to the agreement, the relationship between Nikkei and IIT Roodkee is said to be beneficial for both institutions .
Started as Rudki College in 1847, IIT Rudki is Asia's first engineering college. Most of the first generation engineers of Nepal have also been educated from this institution. IIT Roodkee has played an important role in India's technological development, industrial growth to policy making on infrastructure, water resources, energy and sustainability.
