Ashish Mishra of Janakpur won the bronze medal in the 2nd International Mathematics Olympiad

In the 2nd International Mathematics Olympiad held in Turkmenistan, Ashish Mishra, aged 19, from Janakpurdham has managed to win a bronze medal.

He is the first Nepali to achieve this success. This is the first time that Nepali students have participated in this. Along with this, he will go to participate in the 66th International Mathematics Olympiad to be held in Australia from July 9 to 21, 2025.

According to Mathematics Association of Nepal, the names of 6 Nepalese participants have been selected and the process of going there has started.

Mathematics Association of Nepal Central Co-Treasurer Dr. Under the leadership of Saraswati Acharya, the Nepali team that went to Turkmenistan on 6th Baisakh is going to return to Nepal on Sunday 14th.

6 students from Nepal participated in the competition in which competitors from more than 30 countries participated. Ayush Dhungana from Darchula, Ayush Marasini from Gulmi, Ashish Mishra from Dhanusha, Suhit Dhungana from Bhaktapur, Prakash Acharya from Kathmandu and Shubham Shrestha participated on behalf of Nepal.

From April 21st to 26th, in the program organized by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, there were individual and group competitions between more than three hundred students.

Nepali students were co-led by teacher Dharmendra Kumar Yadav. In the hall of Divya College, Kathmandu Tinkune, the students who participated in the competition were bid farewell and good wishes during a program.

General Secretary of Nepal Mathematics Association and Director of Divya College Chhabi Dhungana, Vice President of the organization Hariprapann Kandel, Head of Information and Communication of Divya College Durga Prasad Choulagai and parents expressed farewell and good wishes at the event.

The participants in the International Mathematical Olympiad were selected after a tough competition in the association through the district and state. According to the general secretary of the association, Chhabi Dhungana, Ashish Mishra from Janakpur is an excellent and disciplined student. He said that they are excited because his success is something that Nepal as a whole can be proud of.
