The 14th session of the South Asian AOTA Federation (SAFAS) has been organized in Lalitpur.
SAFAS convention was held on April 4-5 at Square Hotel in Pulchok with the theme 'Collaborative Growth for Sustainable Development: Our Common Future'. In the session inaugurated by Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security Sharatsin Bhandari, Japanese ambassador Mayda Toru, advisor of Nepal AOTS Alumni Society, Bangladesh AOTS and Chattagram AOTS Dr. AKM Mozzem Hussain, senior representatives of various AOTS Alumni Society of South Asia, Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Regional Trade Associations, various Japanese and allied organizations participated.
Similarly, more than 50 representatives of the Alumni Society from Bangladesh, India, Japan, Nepal and Sri Lanka participated. At the
convention, presentations by various people, group discussions on three sub-topics prepared to maintain a sustainable partnership between SAFAS general assembly members and AOTS Japan were held.
Nepal AOTS Alumni Society is a voluntary non-governmental organization established in 1991 by Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship alumni in Japan. This organization is now named as 'Association for Overseas Technical Support and Sustainable Partnership Human Resources and Industry Development Association'. Nepal AOTS has its own secretariat in Koteshwar called Yamamoto Training House. According to the organization, it has trained more than 1,200 Nepalis in AOTS Japan, more than 5,000 in Nepal through World Network Friendship Overseas Trekking Program and domestic lecturing tour.
Like Nepal AOTS, 75 alumni societies of 46 other countries of the world are also affiliated with AOTS Japan. Nepal AOTS is a member of South Asian Federation. 16 alumni societies are affiliated to it.
