100 students from all over the country are going to compete in the sixth edition of Nepal Economics Olympiad 2025. A total of 1,084 students participated in the competition to be held in Kathmandu from February 16 to 18. According to the organizer Young Economist Society Nepal, 185 students from all seven provinces participated in the regional stage of the economics and financial literacy competition.
The best 100 students from the regional competition are selected for the national stage. Now they have to demonstrate logical ability, financial analysis and financial problem solving skills . The top five students who perform best at the national stage will represent Nepal in the International Economics Olympiad to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan in July.
Similarly, the Young Economist Society has informed that five other students will participate in the international competition jointly organized by the University of New South Wales and the Australian Economics Olympiad in Sydney, Australia. The
competition will include challenges such as business case analysis, financial logic tests, financial literacy sessions and simulation games. Nepal's senior economists, financial experts and educational trainers will conduct a special training session. It is expected to help students develop practical financial knowledge and analytical thinking .
According to Arjun Sapkota, president of Nepal Economics Olympiad, this Olympiad is not only a place to provide competitive opportunities to students but also an important platform to contribute to their financial literacy, analytical skills and policy making.
