Ncell has launched Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) service to provide quality voice call service to its customers through WiFi internet. According to Ncell, this service enables customers to make clear HD voice calls, pick up incoming calls and exchange SMS using WiFi internet.

Especially called 'Wi-Fi Calling', the VoIP service is considered useful in places with weak mobile network signal. This service can be used in basements of large buildings and remote locations . Currently, Ncell has informed that this service is available on iPhone-8 and above iPhone models .

There is no additional charge for this service. Customers can stay connected with extended network coverage in areas with weak mobile network by availing this service at the cost of existing voice and SMS services . Just as 4G is required for Voice over Long Term Evolution (Volte) services, VoWiFi requires a reliable Wi-Fi connection .

Ncell has said that this service will be extended to other brands and models including Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo. The company has already expanded its 4G network to cover 94 percent of the country's population and it is claimed that it will facilitate the use of both Volte and VoWiFi services.

'Customers with a mobile set capable of running VOWiFi service have to download the Ncell app and activate this service through the app,' the statement said, 'After that, the customer can take advantage of this service through any reliable WiFi.'    Before activating the

service, customers must have both Volte and VoWiFi or Wi-Fi Calling activated i.e. 'enabled' on their mobiles. For that, you have to go to the settings, go to the mobile network, select the SIM card and activate it by choosing VOWiFi, Wi-Fi calling or the like. On January 22, Nepal Telecom also informed that it has started the commercial operation of the 'VOWiFi' service.
