AI Association Nepal has been formed to promote inclusive, transparent and responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in Nepal. Shailendra Raj Giri, the founder of Mero Jab, has been elected as the president of the association established on the initiative of AI experts, entrepreneurs and researchers.
The association aims to encourage AI research, innovation and collaboration to solve Nepal's various challenges. The aim of the association is to find innovative solutions through the effective use of AI, especially in areas such as health, education, agriculture and public services, the statement said.
In an event held in Kathmandu to consult stakeholders regarding the AI policy recently released by the government, Chairman Giri informed about the goals and plans of AI Association Nepal . He said it plans to support AI education and industry-related projects, promote research and development, and conduct training, workshops, and skill development programs.
Association General Secretary Advocate Santosh Sigdel while analyzing the draft of the AI policy emphasized that the proposed policy should be based on ethical and inclusive AI practices. He suggested that the policy should be prepared in such a way as to benefit the society as a whole. In the
program, it was informed that AI Association Nepal will hold AI policy debates, research grant program and open-source AI resource center in the coming days. The association calls upon researchers, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders to collaborate for inclusive, transparent, and responsible AI technology promotion in Nepal.
