During COPD Awareness Month, Cipla engaged a total of 4,350 doctors from Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Oman, and UAE in a pledge drive to create awareness about 'Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease' (COPD). This initiative was named 'Take Charge - I Pledge' by Cipla. It aimed to promote meaningful dialogue between healthcare professionals, patients and caregivers and reinforce Cipla's commitment to respiratory disease awareness.
This achievement has been recognized by the Asia Book of Records as the most doctor-engaged campaign for COPD awareness. Speaking about this recognition, Swapan Malpani, CEO, Cipla EMEU said, 'COPD was once recognized as a progressive lung disease and is the fourth leading cause of death globally. In 2021, it caused about 3.5 million deaths. That is about 5 percent of global deaths. By engaging doctors in the 'Take Charge - I Pledge' campaign, our aim was to highlight the importance of timely diagnosis and effective management. which can improve long-term health outcomes.
