Sunaina Ghimire Pandey has been elected unopposed as the first woman president of Computer Association Nepal Federation (CAN). In the election to be held during the 31st Annual General Meeting and 15th Convention of the Federation, Pandey was the only candidate for the post of President and she was elected unopposed.
Federation General Secretary Chiranjeevi Adhikari confirmed that Pandey was unanimously elected. "The information technology sector and the economy of the country still need to be boosted, so we believe that a capable woman like her should come to the leadership of CAN," said the official, "She has been accepted as the president by collective consensus because it is a matter of individual's defeat during the election." It is our collective understanding that CAN should win, not the individual.' The official announcement will be made on January 13 as part of the
election process. Elections for members and other positions are being held on Saturday. CAN is currently headed by Ranjit Kumar Podar .
Pandey has also previously held the responsibility of vice president of the CAN Federation. She was defeated by Navraj Kunwar for competing for the post of President in 2076. She is the managing director of software development company General Technologies .
