Police arrested Birgunj Metropolitan City Mayor Rajeshman Singh on Tuesday morning. He was taken into custody from Thori area of Parsa on the basis of an arrest warrant issued by the Parsa District Court, the District Police Office, Parsa, has said.

An investigation is underway against Mayor Singh in a document-related offense (forgery) case. The court had issued an arrest warrant in the case last Tuesday. He is accused of helping another person's daughter obtain citizenship and other government documents by showing her as his daughter on the basis of fake documents.
