A neighbor has been arrested in the murder case of 36-year-old Anita Devi Rai of Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality-5, Banarjhula in Saptari. The arrested person is Bablu Rai, 30, of the same place. The arrested Bablu has been remanded for 7 days for further investigation, informed DSP Dambar Bahadur Puri, spokesperson of the District Police Office.
According to him, the deceased Anita Devi's husband Birendra Rai had filed a complaint against Bablu. Bablu, who was absconding after the incident, was arrested last Monday. 'We recovered the woman's body in a decomposed state,' DSP Puri said, 'Further detailed investigation is underway into the incident.'
Anita Devi, who was sleeping alone at home, was reported missing on the night of Baisakh 23. When Anita Devi was not found at home in the morning, locals informed the police after seeing blood spatters in the courtyard. The body of Anita Devi, who was searched for by locals and police, was found a week later on the western bank of the Koshi River with her hands and feet tied and 10/12 kg stones wrapped around her feet and head.
Her 12-year-old daughter Kajal Kumari, who had gone to a wedding the night her mother disappeared, is waiting for justice after the incident, looking at her mother's photo, while Birendra, who returned home from Qatar after his wife's murder, has also demanded maximum action against the killer.
