The victims of a tree falling on a tempo in Jaleshwor on Saturday evening have been identified. Sakuntala Devi, 41, of Janakpur Sub-metropolitan City-20, and Rahul Malik, 33, of Ekdara Rural Municipality-3, Mahottari, who were riding in the tempo, died, said Shailendra Kumar Bhatta, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Mahottari. Bhatta said that both died when a tree near the road in Parakauli, Jaleshwor Municipality-9, fell on a vehicle (J 1 G 4850) heading towards Janakpur during a storm.
Harendra Thakur, 52, of Jaleshwor-11, Fekni Devi Malik, 43, of Ekdara-3, and Dheeraj Malik, 17, of Janakpur Sub-metropolitan City-12, were injured in the accident. The injured Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhatta said that the condition of all three is critical and they are being treated at Janakpur Provincial Hospital.
