It has been 17 hours since the Supreme Court issued a mandate to Madhesh Province Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav to seek a vote of confidence within 24 hours. However, Chief Minister Yadav has not yet sent a letter to the Madhesh Province Assembly regarding the vote of confidence.
The Provincial Assembly Rules of Procedure stipulate that a letter regarding the vote of confidence must be sent to the Provincial Assembly 24 hours in advance. Deputy Speaker Babita Raut Ishar informed that the Supreme Court sent a letter to the Office of the Provincial Chief in Janakpurdham, the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, and the Madhesh Provincial Assembly at 8:30 pm.
CPN-UML Provincial Assembly member Sarada Devi Thapa said that there was no preparation or discussion at the provincial level regarding the vote of confidence. According to her, preparations were made with the Nepali Congress and Janmat Party at the party central level regarding the vote of confidence. She said that there has been no update since then.
CPN-UML Chief Whip Hari Narayan Mahato said that he was not aware that the Chief Minister himself was preparing to take the vote of confidence.
