Last week, two children died in Dhanusha after drowning in a 4-feet deep pit dug to make an agricultural road. Although the construction company is Jai Baba Construction, the local Rajendra Mandal has taken the contract for the construction of the road. What is amazing is that an agricultural road is being constructed to reach the farm of the contractor.
Kamala Municipality of Dhanusha had signed an agreement with Jai Baba Construction to build 435 meters of agricultural road in May. 7-year-old Rithik Sah and 5-year-old Ritish Sah of Kamala Municipality-2 Sarabe died after drowning in a hole dug on the side of the road.
After the death of two children due to drowning, the municipality has withdrawn saying that it does not have a plan, while the ward president Thakku Yadav has come to the defense of the contractor board saying that compensation will be paid to the deceased families. The contractor Mandal had killed the contract to build an agricultural road up to his farm at the insistence of his sister-in-law Renu Mandal, who was a member of the ward.
Ward president Yadav is trying to protect the contractor from legal action by saying that 'similar roads are being built everywhere' by not showing patience for the death of two children.
District Police Office Dhanusha has sent the contractor team to Janakpur for questioning after the death of two children who drowned in the ditch dug for road construction. "When the contractor was called and questioned, it was found that the contract was in the name of one person and the work was done by another person," Dhanusha police chief SP Narahari Regmi said, "The municipality and ward should be responsible in such incidents." They didn't see that. If there is a complaint, we will proceed with the action .'
Ward president Yadav kept the grandfather of the two deceased children, Chandeshwar Sah, under constant pressure and did not allow the victim's family to reach the police. Inspector Babindra Nemwang of the area police office Khajuri said that the post-mortem of both the children has been done and the investigation of the incident will be carried forward after the report is received. According to him, no complaint has been received from the victim's family.
The agricultural road being constructed by the contractor is also against the standards. Although it is mentioned in the contract agreement to remove soil from only one side of the road, the contractor team has removed soil from both sides . The construction of the agricultural road is not connected to any main road in Sarabe.
The road starts from the contractor Mandal's farm and ends up to his farm. "I will not say anything about the road and the incident," said the contractor Mandal, "I will accept whatever decision is taken by the people's representative after discussing with the village." In which there are only 321 children. As of May 6 of the current fiscal year, 202 people have drowned in Madhesh province. In which there are 116 children .
The contractor drowned in randomly dug road holes, ponds, ponds and reservoirs and died without taking legal action.
