The ancient Mithila region of Madhes has become a festival with the beginning of Chait Shuklapaksha. Vasanti Navaratra has started today with Chait Shukla Pratipada. Within this is the Hindu Maithil tradition of celebrating Chaiti Chhath. This year, Eid, the main festival of Islam Dhamavalambi, falls within Vasanti Navratri, so the atmosphere here has become festive.
Maithil of Hindu tradition is now preparing for Vasanti Navratri. On the occasion of Vasanti Navratri, which begins with the Chait Shukla Pratipada, the Goddess Shaktipeeth and temples of the ancient Mithila region along with Mahottari of Madhes are being installed today.
There is a Maithil tradition of worshiping Navadurga day after day during Vasanti Navratri, which is celebrated for nine days from Chait Shukla Pratipada to Navami. Navratri is celebrated twice a year in Hindu tradition. Sharadiya Navratri from Asoj Shukla Pratipada to Navami and from Chait Shukla Pratipada to Navami is called Vasanti Navratri. Navadurga Bhavani is worshiped in the same way on both Navaratras.
After Sharadiya Navratri, from Dashami to Purnima, there is no tradition of tika from the dignitary during Vasanti Navratri. On the first day of Navratri, there is a tradition of chanting chants along with the worship of Navadurga by setting up a Purnakalash in a new clay pot. On these nine days, the nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshiped respectively Shailapatri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri and Siddhidatri.
With the beginning of Navratri, Goddess Bhajans of Mithila have started humming in Shaktipetha. Panchadhura Mai temple at Bardibas in Mahottari, Sonamai temple at Bhoil in Aurhi and Rajdevi Mai temple at Jaleshwar are preparing for special worship on the occasion of Vasanti Navratri.
Jaleshwarnath Mahadev temple complex temple of Trishuli Devi will also be opened for public viewing from today. The temple of Trishulidevi is traditionally opened for public viewing only during Sharadiya and Vasanti Navratri periods.
In Mithila, there are also preparations for Vasanti Chhath, colloquially called Chaitichhath, within Vasanti Navratri. In the Maithil Hindu tradition, Chhath is also celebrated twice, Sharadiya and Vasanti. The date from Kattik Sukla 4th to Saptami is called Sharadiya and Chait Shukla 4th to Saptami is called Vasanti Chhath. This year, Mithila region has become a festival as Eid, the main festival of Islam, falls within this Navratri.
