In the fifth meeting of the seventh session of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly held on Sunday, the Provincial Assembly members have strongly protested and warned that the federal government has shown vindictive behavior. Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Assembly member Ratna Bahadur Khatri described the current situation as a historical turning point and accused that an attack is being made on nationalism and sovereignty. He warned that the country will be pushed back towards instability if the protests of Bhadra 23 and 24 are not understood correctly. Stating that incidents like arson in the parliament building are unacceptable for a modern civilized society, he raised serious questions about the identity and motives of those involved in such incidents.

Khatri urged people to be aware of this, saying that efforts are being made to lead the country towards violence and conflict. Expressing dissatisfaction over the fact that the report of the commission formed to investigate the incident has not been made public, he accused the detention of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak on the basis of the same commission as political revenge. He demanded their unconditional release.

Another provincial assembly member, Bishnu Prasad Panthi, also said that the detention of former Prime Minister Oli and Home Minister Lekhak was a vindictive step. He thanked all parties involved in holding the elections and congratulated the new leadership. Panthi said that the action taken without making the controversial Karki Commission report public has undermined the essence of the rule of law.

Provincial assembly member, Bhandari Lal Ahir, demanded an impartial investigation into the arson incidents in government structures and expressed the view that the former Prime Minister and Home Minister should be released immediately. He said that he would support a just decision, but vindictive actions would be unacceptable.

Provincial assembly member, Hema Belbase, expressed concern over the increasing incidents of sexual violence in Lumbini province and demanded the establishment of a special fund for the protection of victims.

Provincial assembly member, Anurag Khadka, expressed dissatisfaction over the weaknesses in the budget implementation. He said that there were also errors in the budget and people's dissatisfaction was growing. Provincial Assembly member Meena Kumari Shrestha drew the government's attention by emphasizing good governance, transparency and accountability. Provincial Assembly member Chandrakesh Gupta urged to expand access to education and implement the pending plans. Provincial Assembly member Dipendra Pun described the current political situation as suspicious and commented that the majority is being misused. He pointed out the need to make the role of the province more effective.

Provincial Assembly member Basiuddin Khan demanded that the government pay attention to fire management, saying that the risk of fire has increased due to the wind and storm. He also said that the work done by the provincial government has not been effectively publicized.

Pragya Pratishthan Bill presented in the House

Minister for Industry, Tourism and Transport Prachanda Bikram Neupane has presented the bill to establish and operate Lumbini Pragya Pratishthan in the House. Similarly, in the meeting, Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya has submitted a proposal to send the bill to amend the District Assembly and District Coordination Committee Operation Act, 2075 BS to the Provincial Affairs and Law Committee for clause-wise discussion.
