The bus will operate from 9 am to 5 pm. Out of the 5 state-of-the-art buses that came 5 years ago to provide convenience to tourists while reducing environmental pollution, only 2 buses are in a condition to operate. Fund member secretary Deepak Shrestha said that the buses are currently being operated free of cost. 'We will put a QR code on the bus door for those who want to contribute voluntarily,' he said. Regarding operating them for rent, he said that it can only be done after making a procedure. The process has been started for the maintenance of the other 3 buses.
Two weeks ago, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism took a secretary-level decision to send the 5 electric buses that had been supported by the Lumbini Development Fund to the Civil Aviation Authority. However, on Monday, an official from the Prime Minister's Office called and directed to make arrangements to operate them in Lumbini, and the process of sending the buses was stopped.
14 modern taxis (vans) and 5 buses were brought to Lumbini under the Clean Energy Project with the grant assistance of the Asian Development Bank in 2077 Mangsir and Poush. Buses and taxis worth 130 million rupees were imported. The Government of Nepal had paid 35 million rupees in customs duty. Out of the 14 taxis (vans), 12 of them are being used by the fund's officials and employees. Two of them are not in a condition to operate due to accidents.
