The French version of the book 'That Nepal' written by author Dadi Sapkota has been released.
At a special program organized at the Nepal Tourism Board in Bhrikutimandap on Sunday, Alliance Française de Kathmandu Director Silvan Swan, author Dadi Sapkota, former diplomat of the Nepali Embassy in France, Paris, Ram Babu Dhakal, and Neeraj Bhari of Fineprint launched the book.
The cultural, social, and historical relations between Nepal and France are presented in the book through human experiences and personal stories.
Alliance Française de Kathmandu Director Silvan Swan, who is active in the promotion of French language and culture, expressed his belief that the book will play an important role in understanding the long-standing cultural relations between Nepal and France in a deeper way.
He said that such works will further strengthen mutual understanding, dialogue, and cultural exchange between the citizens of the two countries.
Author Dadi Sapkota informed that the book contains the experiences, perspectives, and emotional ties with Nepal of French citizens who know Nepal closely. He said that the book was prepared with the aim of understanding Nepal from an external perspective and documenting various dimensions of Nepal-France relations.
The book includes the experiences of French personalities who have studied, researched and worked in Nepal at different times and have special affinity towards Nepal. Commenting on the book at the
program, former diplomat Ram Babu Dhakal expressed his belief that the book will further highlight Nepal-France relations and cultural exchange.
Neeraj Bhari of publishing house Fineprint said that 'That Nepal' is not only a literary work but also a historical record of the relations between Nepal and France.
He believes that the book, which was popular among readers after being published in Nepali, will now be available in French, making it easier for readers of both countries to understand each other's society, culture and history.
Various personalities associated with the diplomatic field, literature, publishing and French language education were present at the release program.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and France, there has been continuous cooperation in the fields of education, culture, tourism, science and research.
The French edition of ‘That Nepal’ is expected to bring this historical relationship to a wider international audience and act as a cultural bridge between the two countries.
