Social worker Vijayalakshmi Shrestha and writer Uma Subedi have been awarded by the Sita Balmukunda Pokharel Foundation, Kathmandu.
At a ceremony held at the Nepal Pragya Pratishthan hall on Thursday, Sita Pokharel, Chief Patron of Purbanchal Bal Sewa Ashram Biratnagar, Vice Chancellor of the Foundation Bimal Niwa and others presented certificates to the awardees. The award amount is Rs 25,225 each.

Subedi from Jhapa, on the other hand, writes short stories, poems and songs. She has six books in publication, including Toda, Iti, Sayaun Putali, and Paridhi.
The foundation was established in the name of Sita and Balmukunda Pokharel, the founding presidents of Purbanchal Bal Sewa Ashram. Every year on the 17th of Baisakh, the foundation awards personalities who have contributed to various fields.
Subedi, who was awarded the award, said that she was the happiest at this time. 'This honor and award has made her emotional,' she said. Saying that Sita's good deeds are inspiring for society, she said that one should have a broad mind for such deeds.
Shrestha, who was awarded the award, recalled meeting Sita in Janakpur 35 years ago. 'She has done a lot of commendable work in her field. There are examples of children who have grown up there doing good things.'
In the program, reviewer Rajkumar Baniya informed that the ashram has protected more than a thousand children. 'Sita is a mother of decision above blood ties,' he said, 'She raised about 300 people in her own arms.'
The chief guest of the ceremony, Nibha, said that the foundation has selected the right person and given the award.
The founding president of the ashram, Sita Aama, said that the idea of doing positive work in the society was born in her from the moment she began to understand life. She says that the ashram was started with the idea of not expecting the fruits of her actions. 'The energy within me has helped me move forward for this work,' she said.
The president of the foundation, Suresh Gaunle, said that the foundation will continue to expand the scope of areas and people to be awarded in the future. 'In the future, we will work for human welfare,' he said, 'This foundation established in the name of Sita Aama and Baba will keep them alive forever.'
