A two-day ‘Literature Festival’ is being organized in ‘City of Tea’ Ilam from Friday. The two-day festival organized by the Ilam City Literature-Art-Music Foundation will feature heated debates on topics such as politics, geopolitics, education, literature, art, tourism, environment and history. The program, co-organized by Hangyug-Junita Foundation and Ilam Sahitya Samaj, will bring together more than a hundred writers, musicians, leaders, journalists and activists from Nepal and India. The first day will discuss the joys and sorrows of poetry, as well as various crises and possibilities of tourism and the environment. In the first session, Binod Bikram KC, Ramesh Chandra Adhikari and Samdarshi Kaila will discuss the topic ‘Poetry: From Heritage to Reels’. Poet Balika Thapaliya will facilitate this session.

Arjunbabu Mabuhang will give a solo talk on ‘Mundhum and Environmental Crisis’. 

The discussion titled ‘Akhyaan Upakhyan’ with Uma Subedi, Amar Neupane, Shyam Singhak and Keshav Dahal will be facilitated by writer Shailendra Adhikari.  

The session titled ‘From Poetry to Kollywood’ will feature cinematographer/poet Upendra Subba and journalist Sunita Khaling. 

The discussion titled ‘Tourism’s Glory: The Basis of Prosperity’ with Sushila Sapkota, Niroj Kattel and Amir Rai will be facilitated by journalist Giriraj Baskota. The first day’s session will conclude with a Ghazal evening. 

The first session of the second day will feature a discussion titled ‘Education Bill’ between Yogendra Shrestha, Purna Gautam and Tanka Gautam. This session will be facilitated by journalist Satendra Javegu. 

In the next session titled ‘Border Literature’, a discussion between Binita Chhetri, Krishna Baral, and Gyanendra Yakso will be facilitated by Hem Bhandari. 

There will be a solo talk by journalist Basant Basnet under the title ‘Digital Masubhat and We Journalists’.  

In the session titled ‘Story: From Himalwari to Himalpari’, journalist/author Sudhir Sharma and journalist Deepak Sapkota will discuss the many complexities of geopolitics.  

A dialogue with Yudh Baidya and journalist Mohan Mainali under the title ‘Jarako Kura: Hamro Itihas Charcha’ will be facilitated by writer Sujit Mainali.

There will be a solo talk by House of Representatives MP Niskal Rai under the title ‘Ilam Development on Bihaf Up Orange and Green Economy’. He will discuss the diverse potential of Ilam. 

The program will be followed by a poetry concert and a concert by a musical group including singer Pushpan Pradhan, said program coordinator Prakash Thamsuhang.
