The international level 'Ilam Literature Festival' is going to be organized in the tourist city of Ilam on the upcoming 18th and 19th of Baisakh. This is the fifth edition of the festival that is being held now. The festival aims to connect literature and tourism and introduce Ilam to the international level.

This festival has been organized every year with the aim of promoting Ilam's tourism through literature. The organizer 'Ilam Nagar Sahitya Pratishthan' has informed about the grand event this year as well. The

festival will have in-depth debates and discussions on various topics including literature, art, culture, politics, spirituality, tourism, environment and technology. The organizers have said that there will be significant participation of famous writers, writers and artists from Nepal, Sikkim, Siliguri, Darjeeling and Bangladesh.

Prakash Thamsuhang, Chairman of ‘Ilam Nagar Sahitya Pratishthan’, said that the festival will highlight the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Ilam in a literary color. It will be an interesting and memorable opportunity for literature lovers, tourism entrepreneurs and locals. It is expected to give an international dimension to the festival and establish Ilam as a center of literary dialogue across borders.

Giving information about the festival at a press conference held at the district headquarters on Wednesday, Prakash Thamsuhang, Chairman of the organizing organization, said, ‘The festival will make Ilam an international literary center. It will not only promote creative expression but will also make a significant contribution to tourism promotion. We aim to present the identity of Ilam to the world through literature and culture.’ The official logo of the festival was also made public at the press conference. The logo symbolically embodies the message of Ilam’s identity, the Red Panda, literary spirit and tourism.

The festival is jointly organized by the 'Ilam Nagar Sahitya Pratishthan' and the 'Ilam Sahitya Samaj'. A special attraction of the festival is a program to felicitate senior writer Bairagi Kaila. 'The festival will express respect for the contribution made by Bairagi Kaila to Nepali literature,' said Thamsuhang.

The festival, which will be held for two days, will organize various creative programs including literary debates, poetry readings, book releases, interactions, cultural performances, etc. The aim is to exchange ideas and expand cooperation between writers from home and abroad.

It is believed that this fifth edition of the international literature festival will further establish Ilam as a literary destination and make a significant contribution to tourism promotion.

The organizer has also stated that the ‘Hangyug-Junita Foundation’ will be awarding a prize of Rs 50,000 to a writer/author at the ‘Ilam Literature Festival’ from this year onwards.
