The third major National Children's Literature Festival has begun with the aim of increasing children's knowledge about reading culture, heritage, technology, literature, and education.
The festival, which will run until Magh 13, has started at the Patan Museum premises under the co-organization of Nepal Children's Literature Society, Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Patan Museum and various organizations.
The festival was inaugurated by child singer Kalpana Bista. On the same occasion, awards established by various donors of Nepal Children's Literature Society were also distributed to various children's writers under the annual program. The Dhruv Sushila Children's Research Award was given to Pramod Pradhan, the Chudacharan Children's Biography Award to Victor Pradhan, the Tej Pratibha Children's Journey Award to Ghanshyam Rajkarnikar and the Mukesh Janak Vigyan Children's Literature Award to Sirjana Sharma.
In the group discussion session on 'Social Networks and Children' on Sunday, journalist Kranti Pandey had a debate with senior psychologist Ganga Pathak, clinical health nurse Sushila Shrestha and writer and journalist Damodar Neupane among the speakers. The program concluded with the conclusion that the role of parents is key to reducing the growing use of social media and mobile technology among children.
Similarly, in the paper presentation, senior botanist and science writer Tirtha Bahadur Shrestha presented a paper on 'Science in Children's Literature', while Mukesh Kumar Chalise commented on the paper. Dr. Mizanur Rahman Kallol will also present a paper, said Yashoda Adhikari, coordinator of the event.
