The decision to award Khatiwada was taken at a meeting held in Bagrakot, Dooars, on Thursday under the chairmanship of Dr. Mohan P. Dahal, coordinator of the Badrinarayan Pradhan Memorial Award Selection Committee.
This year's Badrinarayan Pradhan Memorial Award will be presented to Gyanendra Khatiwada, a senior poet and thinker from Salwari near Siliguri.
The decision to award Khatiwada was made at a meeting held in Bagrakot, Duwars, chaired by the coordinator of the Badrinarayan Pradhan Memorial Award Selection Committee, Dr. Mohan P. Dahal, on Thursday. The award will be presented on the occasion of the 98th Badrinarayan Pradhan Jayanti to be held in Bagrakot on January 18, said Rupesh Sharma, secretary of the foundation.
The foundation, established in 2010 in memory of famous leftist writer Badrinarayan Pradhan, has been presenting this award to dedicated seekers of Nepali literature every year since 2012. Khatiwada's two poetry works, 'Khasnai Yaga Ujjalama' (1995) and 'Aina Aghiltir' (2023), have been published.
Active in writing and studying for the past five decades, his stories and essays have been published in prestigious literary magazines including 'Samakalin' and 'Kadambari'. His collection of stories is in preparation for publication.
