Dimensional poet and renowned Mundhum scholar Tilvikram Nembang (Bairagi Kainla) delivered a meaningful lecture on Limbu language, Mundhum and literature at Limbu Bhavan, DPH, Gangtok on Wednesday. The program was organized by Sukhim Yakthung Sapsok Songchumbho (SYSS).
During his address, Kainla highly appreciated the significant contribution made by the Sikkimese Limbu community in the preservation, development and promotion of Limbu language and literature in various fields including education, research and creative writing. He stressed that although it is natural to see differences in language usage among the speakers, such sensitive issues related to language and literature should be resolved through dialogue, mutual understanding and academic discussion rather than through legal means. He said, 'Because legal measures cannot always provide constructive solutions.'
Sharing his personal experiences, he discussed his lifelong involvement in Mundhum studies, linguistic research and literary practice. He inspired students, researchers and language seekers to preserve their linguistic identity and heritage with pride and scholarly responsibility.
The program was attended by former Minister Birbal Limbu; retired Director General of Police Om Hang Limbu, retired Secretary and Chairperson of Sikkim State Teachers Recruitment Board Vidya Limbu, retired Secretary and former SPSC President S. B. Limbu; Principal Chief Engineer Sukbir Limbu and Prof. Dr. Bhim Subba of Hyderabad University were present.
In addition, SYSS executive members, assistant professors, Limbu language teachers, renowned litterateurs and Limbu students from Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College, Tadong and Kanchenjunga State University, Sikkim also participated in the program.
The program ended with an interactive session, which reiterated the common commitment to preserve, promote and prosper the Limbu language, mundhum and literary heritage for the future generations.
