The seventh edition of the 'Kitab Jatra' organized by the Kitab Yatra Foundation is scheduled to be held on 15 and 16 December at the Nepal Police Club on Exhibition Road in Kathmandu.
‘The letters or words of a book do not get tired. But people get tired. The story keeps moving. The Kitab Jatra is a representation of such a story,’ said Rishi Ram Adhikari, director of the Kitab Jatra Festival. He said that he wants to continue the Kitab Jatra to raise the level of education and awareness in the society. Adhikari informed that the work of preparing the session hall and stalls has reached the final stage. The festival includes more than two dozen discussion sessions, interactive programs, musical performances and other creative programs. The
program will be attended by literary figures, politicians, writers, artists, editors, journalists, and others from the country and abroad. There will be a serious discussion on various issues related to literature, including social, political, economic, new technology, cinema, and other fields. The festival will also feature a book exhibition, live painting by Mithila Art, food stalls, musical performances by Jadou Hazur, Chhaliya dance from the Far West, Jhijhiya dance from Terai Madhesh, and Maruni dance from the East. Actor Nazir Hussain will recite poetry, perform AI literature, and more. The festival will also feature stand-up comedy by Rishabh Kafle and Prabhat Lama.
Literary writer Neelam Karki Niharika, writer and journalist Mohan Mainali, poet, writer, lyricist Nawaraj Lamsal, writer Subin Bhattarai, journalist Tikaram Yatri, banker Anil Keshari Shah, and journalist Rajendra Baniya will be the speakers in the session. Similarly, media persons Rupesh Shrestha, Virat Anupam, Sanjay Silwal Gupta, Sampada Limbu, Bishwa Limbu, Utsav Rasaili, Deepak Raj Joshi, Rajesh Hamal, Vasant Chaudhary, Amar Neupane, Biplav Pratik, Milan Budhathoki, Sandeep Chhetri, Naresh Bhattarai and others will also participate.
Director Adhikari said that there is also a program to present the 'Prem Sahitya Samman' and the 'Best Seller Award' to two people at the festival.
