On the occasion of the 143rd Chakrapani birth anniversary, Prof. Dayaram Shrestha has been honored with the Chakrapani Memorial Award worth Rs. 20,000. The Chakrapani Memorial Foundation honored Shrestha during a program organized at the Chakrapani Memorial Site in Suryabinayak-5, Katunje.
Chief guest essayist Rochak Ghimire said that the honored Shrestha was an honest scholar, a skilled writer, a responsible professor, a fearless critic and a diligent researcher. He congratulated Chakrapani, discussing his life and career, saying that receiving an award named after such a great personality Chakrapani is the result of sacrifice.
Shrestha said that being honored with the Chakrapani Memorial Award is the fruit of his dedication and hard work. Stating that he was a skilled writer of forty languages, grammar, verse and prose, Shrestha shared his experience of being impressed by the brilliance of his writing power while studying dozens of works including Abbreviated Bharat and Abbreviated Ramayana.
Dr. Balakrishna Adhikari discussed the life, personality, creativity and contribution of the honored personality Shrestha.
Similarly, the Gomashree Bangmaya Puraskar - 2082, which is given to the literary seeker who contributes to the growth of literature, has been awarded to literary seeker Samsharan Neupane. The award was presented in recognition of his continuous service in literary writing, publishing, editing and publicity for more than 3 decades. Dr. Shailenduprakash Nepal discussed his literary contribution, creativity and service.
The special issue of 'Chakrapani' literary annual, essays, edited by poet, journalist and member secretary of Chakrapani Memorial Foundation Ramgopal Ashutosh, was launched at the same event. Dr. Yadevi Adhikari and poet and storyteller Laxmi Thapa reviewed the special issue. The special issue contains 28 essays by essayists born between 1994 and 2054 BS, said Executive Editor Ashutosh.
Similarly, two students from two schools in Suryabinayak were awarded the Baijnath-Sushila Incentive Award-2082, established in the name of Baijnath Chalise, the founder vice-president of Sahitya Sewa and Chakrapani Memorial Foundation, and his wife. Poet Vijay Luitel, Raju Jhallu Prasad, Rajni Mila, Prajesh Khadka, Shobha Sarab, Vasant Nakarmi, Rahena Nakarmi Manandhar, Manju Singh, Padam Dahal and other students of different schools recited poems in the
program.
