Journalist Khagendra Giri's first collection of stories 'Bhagna Premshala' was released in the capital on Friday. Authors Nayanraj Pandey, Basanta Basnet and Saguna Shah released the book at a program organized at Pragya Pratishthan.

Writer Pandey said that this collection has made him hopeful and discussed that this is also one of the notable stories that have come out recently. He said that the characters in the stories, especially those played in dull colors, will entertain the reader. ‘There is a coldness in the story, perhaps these are winter stories,’ said writer Pandey, ‘These are not fabricated and forced. The language flows like a river. It is like a reference book for the new generation on how to write a story.’ He said that the collection contains stories that are based on reality and not fantasy.

Writer Basnet said that storyteller Giri can be welcomed and envied in Nepali literature. ‘The collection contains authentic topics from history to stories about AI and robotics,’ he said, ‘Some stories take time to heat up, but there is a delicious twist.’ He praised these stories that can touch the mind and heart, saying that they have a taste similar to South Asian stories.

Another speaker, writer Saguna Shah, said that there is an internal conflict in every story. ‘I find that advanced and emerging writers often write in their comfort zone,’ she said, ‘But, through such stories and characters, I have been able to read extraordinary stories of ordinary people’s lives.’

Shah said that the collection, which includes various stories from history to the present, has a lot of psychological aspects. ‘I don’t see any argument in it.’ There is a subtle observation of society. Deep work has been done in character selection and development,’ she said, ‘There is room for improvement in the beginning of some stories.’

Writer Giri said that he has been carrying a burden since writing the story until it is published, adding, ‘Today I feel lighter.’ Giri, currently working at Nepalkhabar Online, has published ‘Ek Kishoriko Diary’, a Nepali translation of Anne Frank’s world-famous book ‘The Diary of a Young Girl’. 'Bhagn Premshala' is published by Indigo Inc.
