Tirtha Gurung's novel 'Snow Song' was presented with the Kabidanda National Short Story Award on Saturday. The award carries a prize money of Rs 150,060.

The literary organization Kabidanda Sahitya Samaj of Bharatpur, Chitwan, has been awarding the best short stories (short stories and novels) of the year. The

novel was published in 2081 BS. The prize money has been increased to Rs. 150,000 from this year. The organization started giving short story awards from 2075 BS. Initially, the prize money was Rs. 30,000. From 2079 BS, it was Rs. 125,000. Kabidanda Sahitya Samaj President LB Chhetri has announced that the amount of the short story award will be increased from this time and the Kabidanda Pratibha Award of Rs. 150,000 will also be given next year. About the award-winning novel, critic Keshav Chalise said that the song of snow was written by a person from the tribal community on the subject of tribal people. He said that the novel reflects the social reality of Gurung society seven hundred years ago. It also includes political issues, but not in a flat manner and covers the cultural aspect well, Chalise commented.

Senior litterateur Sarubhakta also delivered a congratulatory speech at the event. Mahesh Paudyal was the keynote speaker, while Bhupin Khadka introduced the award-winning writer Gurung. Writer and former president of the Non-Resident Nepali Association, Jiva Lamichhane, also delivered his remarks.
