Dharan's poet Dr. Asmita Bishta's first poetry-book 'Blackholema Geetharu' was released on Saturday at Mahendra Multipurpose Campus in Dharan.
The book was released by Prada Govinda Bahadur Tumbahang, former head of Province-1. "Bishta's poems influenced me personally," he said, "in these poems, the taste of the new era is found."
Tumbahang said that Nepali poetry is worth comparing with English literature and added, 'As much as I found it difficult to understand when I read English literature, Nepali literature was simple at that time, now it is becoming more difficult to understand.' In the review session program held after the release of
, poet Tika Atreya said that the collection was excellent. "Feminist point of view has been strongly presented in these poems," she said. She said that Bista challenged the orthodox practices of ancient culture. Deputy Professor Deepak Neupane praised the strong use of images and symbols used in the book.
Poet Chandra Gurung, Karuna Rai, Sudeep Pakhrin, Savita Fago Chongwang, Shreya Khadka and others recited poems from the book.
Bista has been teaching English at Mahendra Multipurpose Campus in Dharan for two decades. He has published more than four dozen articles on Nepali narratives and films from a gender perspective.
