Actor Divyadev is famous for his acting skills in films and dramas.
His work in the film 'Chiso Estrem' was praised by many. The audience liked his performance in the recent films 'Actor' and 'Pitambar'. Here is an edited part of the conversation with Panch Panth, a regular column of Ikantipur.
What book did you read last time?
I recently read Vasant Chaudhary's novel 'Devayani'. I had the opportunity to do the voice for the audio book of this book . This is a love story . I liked this book . It is an honest love story written in a simple style.
Your favorite fiction?
It is difficult to say only one or two favorite fixations. There are many. When it comes to Nepali fiction, Dhach Gotame's 'steps of the sun' are . I got to read this book after a long time . Before that, I had read Dhruvachandra Gautham's 'Kattel Sarko Chhotat' .
'Ghamka Paila' was recommended to me by Anup Baral sir . I asked Anup sir, 'If you had to make a film on Nepali fiction, which book would you choose?' He took the name of that book. In this book, Nepali society at that time was depicted in a beautiful way. The story of Terai Base, where a Bengali engineer and his daughter live while the railway is being built.
Another family is Pawan's family. Although the economic situation between the two families is very low, the friendship between them is strong . It felt like a very beautiful story. Sadness and happiness seem to be depicted in us only on one level .
But in spite of the struggle in that story, the humanity is taken in such a way that the reading continues to have an impact for a long time . How sweet society, how sweet heartiness . That's why I love this book so much.
What is your favorite nonfiction? There are many in
nonfiction as well. The book that really touched me is Pratima Bedi's Time Pass: The Memories Off Pratima Bedi' . I enjoyed it a lot . The way he lived his life . Its illustration is quite fun.
I also read the autobiography of his predecessor Kabir Bedi . But Pratima's writing drew more attention. The story of a woman who honestly portrayed her life in a conservative society . Apart from that there are other books.
Fictional character that has influenced you the most? A
fictional character is more of a movie character than a book character. It has been a decade and a half since I watched that movie.
Even after that, I have watched that movie many times. I must have watched it 20 times. Daniel Plainview, played by Daniel Day Lewis in 'The Will Be Blood' directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, is such a fascinating character that he feels like he could have played these kinds of characters.
Why why has it left an impression on me? If one day this kind of character is written, I think it will be aha . The guilt of that character is depicted with fun . His preparation for method acting is also compelling.
Book recommendation for the new generation ? There are many
s. It would be better if I took the name of the author that I like more than the book . Because many of his books are worth reading. It leaves an impression on all readers.
Marquez is my favorite author. He writes on Magic Realism. I like that myself too . In Nepali, Lakshmi Prasad Devkota seems to be . His writing is something we should be proud of.
poetic writing attracts me immensely . Even in the narrative, it seems as if he wrote a poem . Toni Morrison is another author I like . Poetic writing seems to be his . Lately, Vivek Ojha's 'Eanthan' also seems to have been written in depth. Saraswati Pratiksha's 'Nathiya' is also good. Dhach Gotame, Dhruvachandra Gautam is a name that cannot be missed.
