The 'Lomanthang International Media Summit', organized to discuss the impact of journalism, climate crisis and new media, is starting today.
The summit is scheduled to be inaugurated by Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav in Kathmandu on Saturday morning, and then it will be held in Pokhara and Mustang with various interactions and discussions within the summit next Tuesday.
About 150 journalists, climate experts and civil leaders from various South Asian countries will participate in the summit organized by Nepal Press Union. In a press conference held on Friday, Press Union President Shiv Lamsal said that the summit was organized to discuss climate change crisis and the role of media.
According to him, the summit will discuss the changes in multifaceted fields including climate and communication technology and the opportunities and challenges arising from it.
Chairman Lamsal said that the summit will discuss the opportunities and challenges caused by technology in the changing global environment, the problems faced by the media in South Asia, and the impact of journalism. At the
summit, a presentation and discussion program of experts has been held regarding the difficulties, opportunities and challenges faced by journalists in Nepali journalism. Similarly, working papers of experts focusing on topics such as 'Climate Crisis and Journalism', 'AI and New Media in South Asia' and 'Press Freedom and Journalism: Practices and Challenges' will be presented.
