Author Jeeva Lamichhane's new book 'Akshat Antarctica' was discussed at Himalayan Whitehouse College, Tinkunne on Friday. In the program, Jeeva shared the joys and sorrows of his journey to Antarctica among the students.

In the program, there was also an interaction between writer Jeeva Lamichhane and journalist Deepak Sapkota on 'Intact Antarctica'.  Jiva, who wrote in the book, narrated his experience of traveling to Antarctica from January 13 to 24, 2024.

The unspoiled beauty of Antarctica, the long story of reaching there, the memories of the cold world were shared by Jiva with the students. "Whatever we used to hear about Antarctica as a child, I went there with the same thrill, curiosity, fear and excitement", said Jeeva, "I went to Antarctica with the thought of writing a book, later I studied many books and reference materials. After that, I wrote this book.'  In the

program, he narrated Andrew Denton's statement about Antarctica to the students. It was said, "If Antarctica had music, it would probably be Mozart." If it were painting, it would be Michelangelo, and if it were literature, it would be Shakespeare. But, after reaching there, I felt that it is the highest place - Antarctica.'' Jiva said that Antarctica is like what Andrew said in his experience.

Jeeva, who dedicated the book to the explorers of Antarctica, told the scary old travel-story of Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton among the students. In 1915, Shackleton set out on a journey to discover Antarctica. After reaching the Drake Passage, his ship crashed, but he did not lose heart and continued his tough journey for months to discover Antarctica and rescued his teammates,” said Jeeva. Eager and curious students also asked questions about Antarctica with author Lamichhane.
