In October 1958, the great poet Lakshmi Prasad Devkota gave a speech on Nepali literature at the Afro-Asian Writers' Conference in Tashkent, the capital of the then Soviet Republic of Uzbekistan. In what condition was Nepali literature till that time? What direction was it taking?
Devkota told the world that matter at that time . That working paper is considered to be a subtle observation on Nepali literature, which shows the character of the changing Nepali society . Lyudmila Aganina, a Russian scholar studying Nepali literature, wrote, "Devakota, who is proficient in English, has a profound knowledge of world culture and his own national culture, is one of the few people whom Nepal sent to the world conference."
In his new book 'Context and Role', the resident Nepalese ambassador to the Russian Federation, Prof. Dr. By Jangab Chauhan . In the article 'Mahakavi Devkota in Russia', Chauhan wrote, 'Devkota was walking happily on the streets of Moscow, the city of dreams.' The program has been discussed. The book was released by Vice-Chancellor of Nepal Pragya Pratishthan, poet Bimal Nibha and politician Raghu Pant. Speaking on the book, Raghu Pant said that he had a serious discussion on the then Russian society and literature. "These two books help to understand Russian literature and writers," he said. Niva said, 'These books explain Russian literature.'
'Context and role' book contains articles and essays written by Chauhan in different periods. Some of those essays are related to Russian and some Nepali literature. In the book, he has reviewed the writings of Devkota, Mikhail Sholokhov, Maxim Gorky, Pushkin, Anton Chekhov and Pablo Neruda.
'In the Depths of Russia and Other Stories' contains 30 Russian stories by 19 narrators, translated by Chauhan . 19th and 20th Centenary Russian storytellers Anton Chekhov, Lev Tolstoy, Maxim Gorky, Mikhail Sholokhov, Yuri Vondarev and others describe the Russian Soviet society. "In these stories, there is a deep reflection on the side of humanity and justice, also the search for human dignity," Chauhan said in the program, "These stories have the scent of human endurance, wisdom, courage, and morality." Chauhan spent 12 years in Russia studying and researching Russian literature.
