The Armed Police Force Headquarters has expressed concern and requested coordination regarding the inspection process conducted by the Biratnagar Customs and the work being done by the Revenue Investigation Office, Itahari.

Although the Armed Police Force has been working effectively to secure the border and prevent revenue leakage, the head office has expressed its concern and requested them to play a coordinating role after a complaint was filed with the higher authority stating that the work of these two bodies was not satisfactory.

The Barah Bahini Pakali had sent a letter to the head office expressing dissatisfaction over the fact that in recent cases of customs evasion, when trying to seize goods by mobilizing its entire manpower and sending the seized goods to the revenue for investigation, they were released on very low bail. Stating that the work of these two bodies was not effective, the Barah Bahini had concluded that the work of controlling theft and smuggling and revenue leakage from the eastern region was challenging.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the fact that even when gangs smuggling goods into the country are repeatedly arrested, the investigation against them is lax and they are released on very low bail, the armed forces have claimed that some employees of these two bodies are working in collusion with smugglers. The Armed Forces had made it clear that even though it was confirmed that customs agents were involved in the import of goods for customs fraud, they had not taken satisfactory action against them and had said that if such activities continued, they would not be able to work with high morale.

A news was published in Kantipur on this matter on Monday. Immediately after that, to control revenue leakage, the head office requested Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Digvijay Subedi, who was posted at the border checkpoint, to meet the head of the Customs and Revenue Investigation Office and play a coordinating role. Subedi met the head of the Biratnagar Customs Office, Umesh Shrestha, and the head of the Revenue Investigation Office, Itahari, Arjun Rai, and informed that the head office was also drawn to the issue of the APF's dissatisfaction with the customs and revenue investigation, an employee informed.
