In the courtyard of Tiger Tops, the sal, vellar, jamun, karam and tantri trees are still standing. The wild elephant Dhruva walks by these trees night and evening. Dhruva's two 'kids' - 4-year-old Kailash Prasad and 8-year-old Rupkali - are growing up under the same tree in Tiger Tops. The old chaotic image has now been improved by Dhruva.
Before Tiger Tops, which appears to be ghost Bengal, sometimes a tiger is seen and sometimes a roar is heard. Sightings of rhinos, chitals, wild boars, bears are regular sightings.
At present, except for the sound of birds and wild animals, no human voice can be heard in Tiger Tops. This is the same Jungle Safari Lodge, where grand parties were held on special days . And, wildlife was discussed.
It's quiet now — Tiger Tops.
It has become a daily routine to hear the sounds of jhyaunkiri, the elephants and mautees that have crashed into this ruined lodge. Now there is nothing in Tiger Tops, except the golden story of days gone by! Are those days back? Looks like Tiger Tops is waiting for something.
There are old structures of Jungle Lodge but they are not intact. Although it is a cultural heritage of Nepal's tourism history, those structures that are still standing are crumbling and dilapidated. The distinctively designed houses that stood yesterday have been demolished. Wind, water, sun and smoke are eating away at its old timbers, which are now decaying. The tin roof is leaking. Hardly obsolete. The straw has rotted and perished, the weeds have eaten it. Sprinkling of malathin powder has become a daily routine to get rid of dust – Tiger Tops of Kurua.

Standing over the remains, Tiger Tops Managing Director Jack Edward reminisces about that day. As a child, he often stayed at the Tiger Tops forest lodge, went on elephant safaris in the dense forest. He used to sail in a boat on the calm flowing Rapti, nature guide and elephants were his companions.
I was like a man of the forest. Even now I feel like I should run and see the same forest in Chitwan and stay there,' Jack Jungle Gulzar remembers at that time, 'I love that forest very much. When you get in front of the broken Tiger Tops, you want to sit there and cry. Those days keep coming even in dreams. The memories of that beautiful place are the same. Tiger Tops was like a family, it was like a village inside the forest.'
In his own style and style, Talismi recites the magical story of the world he lived in - Tiger Tops, the first wildlife lodge in South Asia. In Ubela's black and white world, Nepal's Chinari was the Everest. After that, Nepal became the 'country of Gurkhas' for foreigners.
And, it became known for Tiger Tops - Nepal. Its story of living in the historical puzzle of Nepal's tourism industry can be seen by peeking into the world - the enchanting days of the olden days. One of the few Nepali brands known in the world, Tiger Tops was actually a witness to a time when the park was teasing out from the dark forest to the outside world, with some romantic dreams and gurgling golden evenings.
Tiger Tops' happy (later troubled) life-portrait says - How sad it was to become the identity of the world's famous tourist destination! How does a 'San' and 'Brand' become trivial and ordinary from an empire of pleasures? That story is told by the wheel of time spinning over Tiger Tops. It is not only glory in life, but also calamity, says the life cycle of Tiger Tops. The life of the deceased Tiger Topps is beautiful.

West Chitwan within the park remains the ruins of Tiger Tops. As if this is a marginal man standing on the edge, who is shaken by the constant blows of hail-water and sun.
The story of the old times and the dense forest Some of the special pleasures of passing in that yard of Tiger Tops are preserved, in human memory. Some memories that stick in a person's mind become priceless when an important character or object associated with it is buried in history. Now the 'heyday' of Tiger Tops, which reminded the world of talismans, has passed away in history. Like people, there are dark-lights, weariness and sadness- in the life of Tiger Tops too.
Rampreet Yadav, who spent 47 years in Chitwan National Park, Nepal's first park, is saddened after the closure of Tiger Tops. He considers the forest to be his 'home'.
It is a very sad event that Tiger Tops, which makes this uncontorted forest hum, is closed. The concept of wildlife business was introduced by Tiger Tops. It introduced Nepal to the world, did a lot of work in conservation, and many Nepalis also got jobs there," says Rampreet. When you get there, it feels lonely, boring, sad.'
From US First Lady Hillary Clinton to famous actor Leonardo DiCaprio, Tiger Tops have been rocked. Amazed by the wave that spread around the world, those famous people came here. History says that India realized that after the Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi visited Tiger Tops in 1981, she should learn jungle resort management from Nepal. After that, the jungle safari business in India flourished.
Telling the story of Tiger Tops is not only about the once-exclusive jungle of Chitwan, but also about the lifestyle of the rich, 'high profile' and 'elite' of that time. Tour of Tiger Tops - Diary features a host of world famous celebrities - Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Benazir Bhutto, Jimmy Carter, Tenzing Norge, Edmund Hillary, Prince Philip, Princess Ann, Mick Jagger, Ringo Starr, Robert Redford, Henry Kissinger, Martina Hingis, Prince Bernhard, John J. Kennedy Jr., David Attenworth, Orlando Bloom, Cameron Diaz, Eva Mendes....
Actor Rajesh Hamal took naturist training at Tiger Tops in November 1986. "I stayed as a naturist at Tiger Tops for 2 months," says Rajesh.

The father of Jack Edward who said 'I was like a man of the forest' was Jim Edward from Britain - the former owner of Tiger Tops, who came to Nepal in 1963 driving the Swedish brand 'Saw Car'. However, the idea of the jungle lodge was planted in the mind of Canadian John Koopman.
He was an adventure-poor man who was once a manager at the Hilton Hotel in Kenya. After coming to Nepal, his heart stopped in Chitwan, the capital of dense forests and animals. And, Koopman opened a jungle hunting lodge there in partnership with two hunters from Texas, Toddy Lee Wynne and Herb Klein. To open the lodge, King Mahendra gave him some parts of the forest of Chitwan on 'lease'.
Sagar Shamsher has written in the article 'Wildlife Conservation and Remembrance of Tiger Tops', 'Koopman came with extensive marketing practice and he had the art of attracting people with new and old interesting stories of wild animals.'
Especially in Koopman's imagination, Tiger Tops was similar to the safari-parks and lodges already built in Kenya and Tanzania. Modeled after the tree-tops of African safari lodges, Koopman designed buildings with tighter tops—huts with tall stilts and rounded roofs. Perhaps inspired by Boris's 'Yak and Yeti' bar, Koopman installed a large circular fireplace in the main dining and lounge, where the chimney sloped towards the floor.
Wood craftsmen came from Bihar to construct the lodge building, local materials were used throughout the building. When the lodge started there were only four guest rooms (Mark Lickty/Jung Bahadur Kopsingh: John Koepman, Hunting and the Origins of Adventure Tourism in Nepal). Black and white daytime photos of tighter tops feature the flowing Rapti, forests above, black hills and Annapurna peaks. In 1967, "Time" magazine wrote about Tiger Tops, "The most exciting of the new tourist hotels." In the same year, Jim Edward joined the lodge. Jim bought the lodge with his friend, Charles (Chuck) MacDougall, a tiger movement and hunting expert. And, named – Tiger Tops, which was spread over 100 bighas of land. The same Jim Edward died in Nepal in 2065.
Author Ramesh Bhusal has written in the book 'Chalbato', 'Jim decided to use that lodge not for hunting, but for showing wildlife.' The author of the book "Chitwan's Touristic Chinari" Dr. Dhakaram Sapkota says, "From the point of view of the support given to the development of tourism in Chitwan, Hotel Tiger Tops should be considered as a milestone. Attracting tourists by showing wild animals was once a fairy tale, in that period the vision of jungle tourism was pleasant.'
In 1988 when Tiger reached the tops with the then King Birendra and Queen Aishwarya with Jim Edward .
The word 'trekking' in Nepal was invented by Mountain Travel under Tiger Tops, Colonel Jimmy Roberts was the originator of the word. Everyone has accepted the very special importance of Tiger Tops in Nepali tourism. It is said that this courtyard is the origin of Asia's jungle safari civilization. From river and forest tourism to conservation, many knowledges, theses and exercises took place at Tiger Tops on the banks of Riu and Rapti. This lodge has also been a symbol of 'chakchaki' that makes Nepal known to the world.
61 years on, Tiger Tops is sharing the soft consciousness of tourism and reciting his autobiography. Tiger Tops is the ultimate witness of tourism history, which tells the story of the forest in which it stands and its characters. Once upon a time those characters were Rana and Shah kings. Asal was the capital of animals – Chitwan, which was made a hunting ground by the Ranas.
Jung Bahadur Rana used to roam the forest for months in Chitwan, hunting. The subsequent rulers also made the dense forests of Chitwan a 'hunting destination'. At the same time, the local Chepang used to go to the Mahabharata Lake with bows on their shoulders, and the Danuwar-Majhis used to go to Narayani or Rapti valley to catch fish. In the once malaria-infested Chitwan, there are plains where rhinoceros graze, and there are also high peaks of the Mahabharata mountains. There is also a palace of kings.
And, there are also the old days of Tharu-Chepang. Rapti flows from Makwanpur's Kulekhani to Chitwan, which irrigates the eastern part of the Chitwan valley. He continues reciting the ancient story of the settlements along the Rapti River - Chitwan. Tiger Tops Lodge located on the banks of Riu River in West Chitwan tells the story of Chitwan's pride.

Tiger Tops was established in 1964, when Chitwan National Park was not established and the National Parks Act was not enacted. And it was Tiger Tops, who helped the government to establish Chitwan National Park in 1972/73, with conservation-oriented tourism policies in place. According to the National Parks and Wildlife Protection Act (2029) and Chitwan National Park Regulations (2030), this lodge was operated within the park with government permission.
'Tiger Tops Karnali Lodge' (Bardia), 'Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge' (Nawalparasi) and 'Tiger Mountain Lodge' (Pokhara) were also opened from the profits of Tiger Tops, an old foreign investment of Nepal. Its affiliates 'Mountain Travel Nepal' (Asia's first trekking company) and 'Himalayan River Exploration' (Nepal's first cruise/rafting company) have also created distinct brands. Chitwan Meghauli hosted the World Elephant-Polo Tournament every year at Tiger Tops, which generated millions of dollars in tourism revenue. There were 20 rooms and 60 beds in this beloved 'location' of 8,000 expensive tourists annually.
In reality, Tiger Tops was the pioneer of sustainable tourism concept, says Megh Ale, an environmentalist and president of the Nepal River Conservation Society. He joined Tiger Tops through Himalayan River Exploration, in 1985 – as a Trainee River Guide. That's where he learned river guiding. In his view, wild-life tourism was branded by Tiger Tops worldwide. Tiger Tops invented Jungle Safari in Nepal. The government destroyed such a big institution,' says Megh, 'Nepal rose through tourism taught by Tiger Tops, but Nepal ate Tiger Tops like a spider eats its tail.'
To be a guest at Tiger Tops on those days in Megh's memory, tourists had to book 3 years in advance and pay 350 to 400 dollars per person per night. And Tiger Tops used to pay more than 1 crore rupees annually. The Jungle Lodge operation employed more than 300 people, with more than 1,000 employees within the entire group.

my father Jim Edward, who had come to Nepal in 1962 for the first time. He bought a company from the American in 1971. The company was bad management, which could cause loss. My father did not really see the victims for the victims to focus on the observance of wildlife. Tiger Topps showed great involvement in the establishment of Chitwan national parks in 1973 and helped the government to make the policy of the tourism practice focused on conservation. The
government realized that the current government is the right management of the national park, is a important part of income and promotion. Many African countries adopted 'Liz models' to attract rich tourists, the number of people entering the park was limited to an obstacle. The 'Lyz model' is a small number of hotel to build a hotel and private safari can be operated in a small number of hotels inside the forest of the park. This model is very successful in Africa.
my father persuaded the government to adopt this policy for Nepal. The government listened to my father and convinced it. Eventually, Tiger Tops allowed the operation of the national park, so that Nepal became the first country to adopt this concept in Asia.
