I sped up my walk looking at the crowd of unfamiliar and new looking students. On both sides of the road, the leaves and branches of the trees were playing wildly in the morning wind.

The guest house on the lower side of the road and the temple complex on the upper side were enjoying the faint fragrance of the flowers and the sound of the bells ringing in the temple. 

As I walked along, exchanging sweet smiles with familiar faces, white coats and stethoscopes hanging around their necks, rushing towards their destination, I was enjoying a unique moment in life. The previously empty road became crowded within ten minutes. There was a heavy presence of students, staff and pedestrians from different faculties of different levels on the road. I witnessed a strange sight on this busy road. 

After approaching the hospital area, my attention was drawn to them. They were walking like automatic robots, without looking at each other's faces, without looking at anything around them, with their eyes fixed on the floor. The scene of the students walking in groups without breaking apart in a completely strange way kept playing in my mind like a reel throughout the day. While going to the market in the evening, he caught sight of them again. She was returning to the hostel after college, in a crowd like that. And, there they were - the same student walking with his eyes fixed on the floor, with a dull face like an innocent. While searching for

, I came to know that they are students who have recently enrolled in MBBS. In this way every year for about one to two months in this Hulia, in this way, young children are seen coming out of the hostel gate with their eyes fixed on the floor, with dirty faces, returning from college, going to the market. As she is a first-year student, she was bullied by a senior student. The senior has issued orders to him to walk only in groups and to walk only looking at the floor. It is maintained throughout the ragging period. You can also see such a scene while walking in the premises of BP Koirala Institute of Science. 

Hostels, quarter buildings, guest houses, temples are walking through ragging students. All the students had their hair shaved when I saw them. He was wearing a white shirt with full sleeves, black pants and black shoes. All the female students wore kurta suruwal and wore a chultho. BP Koirala Institute of Science does not have a dress code.

Studying medicine is also considered difficult. On the one hand, the pressure of studying for new students, on the other hand, the stress of the house! The fear created by the new place is disappearing, when ragging is also added, how can those budding brains bear all this pressure? Most of the children now spend their time pampering their mothers and fulfilling every demand from their fathers. When I have to see her, who grew up in love, in such an innocent condition in the name of ragging, the motherly love in me suddenly starts pouring out of my eyes. And a flood of questions enters the mind - why, how have the students who are engaged in penance to enable themselves for prestigious professions of the society become slaves of such inferior culture? Why are the seniors determined to make the college opening day of Kalila junior siblings happy and memorable and turn the hostel into a torture house? Has the current generation forgotten that they should love and have compassion for those younger than them? When I see her, a tree of curiosity springs up in my mind. Why was the first day of his only college so sad? How lovely is the first hour of the day! The first days of love seem so golden, so dear! How bad is the first day of a student who came to achieve higher education with the determination to save human life?  What is done in the name of

ragging? Cold water is poured on the new students, they are made to stand on one leg for hours, they are verbally abused, they are insulted, they have to attend the senior office at any time of the day and night, and they have to do unnatural and awkward work as they say. How is the confidence of the student who has been made a bloody party by constantly stabbing self-esteem with insults? Every year a bunch of brain-heads walking around brings me a whirlwind of pain, resentment, and anger. It seems that a similar storm is coming in his heart and destroying the fine mound of confidence that he had just built.

MBBS studies have been started in Nepal since 1978. Being associated with the profession of resuscitation, the students of the faculty of medicine were very disciplined and serious. Similarly, in Eastern culture, it is believed that elders should love, affection and guide the younger ones. The MBBS students admitted to the teaching hospital used to show their juniors only affection, provide guidance and help them get through the tough, tough times of their studies. At that time, it was not customary to terrorize new students by ragging.

After the establishment of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Nepal in 1993, MBBS studies were conducted. After that, with the opening of Kathmandu University, Patan Hospital and the medical college under the university, the practice of ragging started. In the last few years, after it was found that students go into depression and even commit suicide due to ragging, a law against ragging has also been made. However, there is still no reduction in the series of ragging. Ragging is done on the pretext of making the junior students blend into the college atmosphere and in the name of asserting their dominance over them. The prevalence of

ragging is even more extreme in neighboring India. According to 'Times of India', 122 students committed suicide and 1270 students dropped out due to ragging in the last 5 years. President of the Federation of Resident Doctors Association Dr. Abhiral Mathur says, "This data highlights the extreme pain experienced by medical students."

researcher Sudipta Ghosh says, "Ragging started as early as 7 or 8 centuries BC. At that time in Greece, a newcomer to a sports team was subjected to ragging. The main reason for that was to make the newcomer mix with the team. Ghosh thinks that World War I has a special role in spreading the practice of ragging and adding brutality to it. During the First World War, most university students were drafted into the war. The concept developed that to teach war skills and war strategy one should be cruel to them. As a result, the Seiners are very cruel to Junior so that they become mentally strong and able to face any difficult situation. Even after the end of the war, the tradition of the senior students being harsh towards the newly admitted students and ragging them remained as a continuation of the college culture even today. Medical students should learn to be selfless and service minded, keeping themselves away from the books of selfishness and transactions. He should not be influenced by any kind of selfishness. Salman Rushdie bowed his head in shame when he saw that a student who should enter the field of karma with a pious purpose was drowning in such evil practices. He says, 'We keep meeting self-proclaimed gods at every stage of life. Those self-proclaimed Gods are always ready to kneel before the three by giving us various temptations.
