The Himali Youth Network has declared an indefinite Karnali bandh in Bajura, saying that despite 24 hours of coordination with various bodies regarding the incident in Himali Rural Municipality-2, the demand was not addressed.
The network issued a statement on Saturday stating that a bandh has been called across Karnali province from 5 am on Jestha 12. The statement demanded on-site monitoring of the incident site to find a long-term solution, and immediate relief to the families of the victims of the incidents in Sarkegad Rural Municipality 3, 4 and 5 and Simkot Rural Municipality 1 and 2 of Humla district.
Similarly, the government has been demanded to arrange necessary treatment and support for the victims on the recommendation of the concerned rural municipality, provide compensation with proper management to the families displaced during the construction of a gymnasium in Himali Rural Municipality-3, and proceed with the construction of necessary infrastructure in places where check-post buildings have not been constructed.
The network expressed its condolences to those who lost their lives in the incident and stated that the Karnali Highway had to be closed to draw the attention of the state to strict action against the culprits, justice for the victims, and the state.
The statement also drew the attention of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Karnali Provincial Government, the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, and the District Administration Offices of Bajura and Humla.
