The dispute in the border area of Humla and Bajura has further escalated. The people of Humla had expressed their anger against Himali Rural Municipality of Bajura over the construction of temporary police posts in Ranisen, Chhyachaur, Lampata and other areas of Humla's Kharpunath, Sarkegard, Tanjakot, Simkot and Namkha Rural Municipality.

Representatives of local political parties in Humla issued a joint press release on Thursday, accusing Himali Rural Municipality of trying to build structures within the borders of Humla. They claimed that the news that locals of Kharpunath Rural Municipality 2 and 3 in Humla district were beaten up and that people including ward member Pema Gurung Lama were made a 'cremation ground' is baseless.

The statement accused locals and people's representatives of Himali Rural Municipality-3 of unilaterally engaging in anarchic activities. ‘There has been an attempt to claim Bajura’s territory by constructing arbitrary structures on the border of Humla,’ the statement said.

Passengers have been stranded for three days due to the disruption of the national highway due to the dispute.

Ordinary people traveling to and from Humla from Nepalgunj and Surkhet are stranded in the Dhulachaur area. According to locals, passengers are forced to live under the open sky, and there is a shortage of food and drinking water. Political parties in Humla have immediately drawn the attention of the federal government to resolve the dispute. They have already submitted a memorandum to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, demanding a halt to arbitrary activities in the disputed area.

The parties have also put forward five-point demands in the statement. In which, it has been demanded to stop construction work in the disputed area, take action against those involved in the incident, immediately bring the national highway into operation, and bring the act of taking passengers hostage within the legal scope .

It has also been warned that if the road is not opened immediately, more agitation programs will be announced . The joint statement has been signed by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) representative Samir Rokaya, NC Vice President Kailash Bhandari, UML Vice President Prakash Bahadur Shahi, and CPN-Maoist Center Secretary Dharmaraj Bohara .
