The body of 16-year-old Inisha BK of Birendranagar Municipality-1 has been kept at the Karnali Provincial Hospital morgue for a week. The victim's family has taken a stand that they will not accept the body until the culprits who raped and murdered their daughter are brought to justice. The family has filed a complaint of manslaughter and rape against the four people arrested on charges of rape. Following the family's complaint, a team led by forensic expert Dr. Arbin Shakya from Bheri Hospital in Banke reached the Karnali Provincial Hospital and conducted an autopsy on Inisha. The autopsy report states that she died due to severe injuries to sensitive organs during the rape. The family has refused to accept the body, saying that the real facts have not been made public even a week after the incident. They allege that the police have not been able to present a credible basis even after a long time. Civil society and human rights activists are raising their voices as far as the federal capital Kathmandu demanding justice in the Inisha death case. They have demanded a fair investigation into the incident and strict action against the culprits.
The post-mortem report states that the death occurred due to excessive bleeding after forced sexual intercourse. The young man arrested from the spot has stated that he lost consciousness due to excessive bleeding after having sexual intercourse with Inisha. Preliminary investigation has revealed that he panicked and called three other friends to the spot after Inisha fell unconscious. The Nepal Police Central Investigation Bureau is investigating the incident in collaboration with the District Police Office, Surkhet. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohan Jung Budhapa, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Surkhet, a separate investigation cell has been established and the investigation is being conducted in coordination with the CIB. Evidence including Inisha's vaginal swab has been sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory for toxicological and bioserological tests. He said that only after those reports come, the truth of the incident will become clearer.
