Minister for Health and Population Dr. Sudha Sharma Gautam has said that the government has promoted traditional medicine as an important component and program.
Addressing a program organized on the occasion of World Meditation Day, Minister Gautam said that despite complaints that no ministry has taken the lead on traditional medicine, the Ministry of Health and Population has been taking the lead.
Minister Gautam also said that a reasonable budget has been allocated for Ayurveda and traditional medicine. She said that Ayurveda programs have also been included in the national policy and the health policy and five-year strategy and action plans of the Ministry of Health.
Minister Gautam's statement
No ministry has taken the lead on traditional medicine. There were also comments that a new ministry would have been better. The Ministry of Health and Population, Government of Nepal, has promoted traditional medicine as an important part and program. A reasonable budget has been allocated for it.
Thousands of our health workers are working. We have hundreds of hospitals. Currently, the Secretary from my ministry and the Director General of the Department of Ayurveda are also present at this program. If anyone here wants to know about Ayurveda and traditional medicine, they can get information from our Ayurveda Department. Ayurveda programs are also included in our national policy and the Ministry of Health's health policy and five-year strategy and action plan.
