Director General of Health Services Department, Dr. Tank Barakoti, has said that the government aims to provide access to quality health services for all. In an event held in Lalitpur on Thursday, Dr. Barakoti said that more manpower and equipment are needed to expand health services to rural areas.

Researcher Dr. Khem Pokharel said that the weakness observed during the study  Said it could be improved. Dr. Pokharel says, "How can the infant mortality rate/maternal mortality rate  The important thing is that it can be reduced. But it is not the same in all provinces.

It is mentioned in the public report that Nepal has made significant progress in maternal and newborn health. Maternal mortality rate was 239 per 100,000 live births in 2016 and decreased to 151 in 2022. Similarly, according to government statistics, the neonatal mortality rate decreased from 39 per thousand in 2001 to 21 in 2022.

There are 2 thousand 848 maternity centers all over Nepal, of which 2 thousand 831 are in operation. These centers provide antenatal care, general delivery, antenatal care, and basic newborn services. The study report includes 222 maternity centers in 45 districts.
