Health Minister Pradeep Paudel has said that discussions are underway to implement a contribution-based insurance system by revising health insurance.
He said that based on the income and employment of the individual, the state should contribute a certain amount to the insurance fund and the state should develop a system for the citizens who cannot deposit the amount in the insurance.
Minister Poudel said this while inaugurating the newly constructed Deurali Primary Hospital building in Hupsekot Rural Municipality of East Nawalparasi. "Financially, there should be no single system between the financially able and poor citizens to pay the insurance amount," he said, "There is a need to improve the insurance system." The state should spend at least 10 percent of the budget on health.
Expressing commitment to pay the remaining amount of health insurance by the middle of August, Poudel asked to spend some percent of the amount received for the insurance on the growth and development of health institutions.
By arranging a well-equipped laboratory and necessary equipment for the hospital, the compulsion to go to the headquarter and Chitwan for general treatment has been removed, said Laxmidevi Pandey, Chairperson of Hoopsekot Village Corporation. Panch Shyako Hospital was operating from the old building before.
